Train tracking software on a model layout is available; it entails you to register the trains to a database system and the trains will be displayed on a virtual schematic on a connected computer. You do not need a special track for it, I don’t believe.
If the train is fitted with a DCC chip, the chip will have a unique address which will alow commands to be sent to it from the control unit. You do not need special track and the wiring is a lot simpler than with analogue control.
